Celebrating Armed Forces Veterans
Marian Montgomery, founder of Invite a Vet Foundation LLC, a tribute to my dad, Staff Stg. Richard L. Webster Sr, who passed away in 2014. My Dad served this country for 20 years in the United State Air Force retired in 1972 and 16 years as a civil service engineer for a total of 36 years. I am so excited to share with you an awesome organization to celebrate military veterans. Invite a Vet Foundation LLC is a not-for-profit organization that celebrates our military veterans and their families with complimentary dinner and entertainment. Our veterans deserve an opportunity to be celebrated for our freedoms and service they provide and provided for our country. My Dad served during the Korean and Vietnam War, he loved being a veteran and he also loved entertainment. During war times the USO (The United Service Organizations Inc) is an American, nonprofit, charitable corporation that provides live entertainment such as comedians, actors and musicians, social facilities, and other programs to active members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. We are not the USO, we are that kind of service for Veterans.
At Invite a Vet Foundation, we understand the unique challenges faced by our military veterans. Our organization focuses on providing crucial services, such as assisting veterans in telling their stories, advocating for their benefits, and organizing informational sessions through our "Each One Teach One" talks. These programs aim to bridge the gap between veterans and the support they need, fostering a sense of community and understanding.
2024 we started our year off with a series on mental wellness, with impactful speakers such as; Lamarr Lewis with Lewis Family Consulting ,
Carla Prewitt and Dr. Carmela Daniels, PhD, Dayton VA, this years car show was another awesome event, more cars, more people to share their stories.
In 2023 Invite a Vet was very impactful with our events , our mission is to give an opportunity for veterans to share their stories and experiences with other veterans , a time to take their mind off of their situations that some veterans have to deal with such as; PTSD, disabilities , loneliness, homelessness and more, this year over 300 attended our car show , over 500 attended our Each One Teach One breakfast and evening talks at the UD Fitz Center and TJ Chumps in Huber Heights, we've also impacted over 1000's of people that have seen us on Channel 7, heard our radio interview on WYSO , Channel 22/45 Good Day Dayton, neighborhood magazines, billboards and more.
Guest speakers at our Each One Teach One talks such as; Congressman Turner's Deputy District Director , Eugene Saunders spoke about constituent services, through his talk, he was instrumental in helping a veteran that served during the Persian Gulf War, get his service connection from 10 to 70 % because of his medical conditions, now this veteran family is helping another family that is also dealing with medical conditions, that is what our Each One Teach One talks are all about.
Retired Col. Dr. Cassie Barlow talked about Vets moving forward, former Montgomery County Recorder veteran Brandon McClain spoke about your veteran card and DD214, I'm please to announce our 2024 talks will be held at Torch Creation Event Venue in Englewood, Ohio.
Invite a Vet's mission and initiatives are; to help veterans tell their stories, connect and advocate for veteran recognition and benefits.
The question I hear a lot of is, why do veterans have a hard time transitioning to civilian life?
The military provides a sense of purpose, honor, camaraderie, hierarchy and well-defined roles- things that can be hard to define in the civilian world and every veteran doesn't have a silver lining and that's why we celebrate you. Your support, donation and sponsorships will help us continue our purpose and mission to support veterans and their families.
